New partnership finance scheme launched

At an event earlier today, the Trust launched a new finance scheme in partnership with UBS and Clothworkers Foundation.

This scheme will provide a follow-on loan facility for organisations who have previously received grant funding on our Stepping Stones grant programme, itself a partnership with UBS. By providing repayable finance to new enterprise activity at affordable rates, it is designed to help borrowers build their businesses before they approach the mainstream social investment market.

Launched in 2014, the Stepping Stones Fund has awarded over £3.2m to 77 charitable organisations in Greater London seeking to explore the social investment market. In 2018, the Stepping Stones Fund received the Charity Times social investment initiative award.

The Stepping Stones Finance Facility offers loans of up to £50,000 at a rate of 0-4%. These can be up to 5 years in length, although early repayment is allowed. In addition, borrowers will also have the option to apply for pro-bono post investment mentoring support from an experienced UBS employee volunteer.
