London's lead voluntary and community organisation calls for views
from across London's communities about the impact of the recession
.

London Voluntary Service Council (LVSC) and its partners are seeking evidence from voluntary and community organisations across London about the impact of the recession on the communities they serve, the demand on services they provide to them and how they are dealing with this.

LVSC's Interim Chief Executive Peter Lewis said, "We are already hearing that our members across London are seeing an increase in demand for their services, particularly in critical areas like dealing with debt, housing, mental health and employment. We want to gather as much evidence as possible in the coming months. The danger is that if short-sighted decisions are made now, the longer term impact of the recession could have much graver consequences for London's most vulnerable communities in the years to come."

Once LVSC has gathered the evidence it will present the findings to policy makers, decision makers and funding partners across London, and ask them to reaffirm their support for the vital services the sector provides.
