London Child Poverty
Awards 2009
The London Child Poverty Awards have been launched to
celebrate people doing inspirational work to support families
across the Capital. Taking part is a fantastic way of recognising
and promoting the good work being done by both individuals and
organisations. The closing date for nominations is 5 October
2009 and winners will be invited to receive their awards at a
special ceremony in November.
There are six categories of awards:
Organisations
- Superb Service
- Exemplary Employer
- Corporate Commitment
Individuals
- Outstanding Practitioner
- Inspirational Parent
- Child Poverty Champion
Announcing the awards, Stephen Timms, Financial Secretary to the
Treasury, said,
'For too long organisations and individuals who have worked for
struggling families across the Capital have not received the credit
they deserve. We aim to put that right. The London Child Poverty
Awards 2009 celebrate individuals and organisations already
undertaking fantastic work to reduce child poverty. They will serve
as an example to inspire others.'
The awards are supported jointly by the Government, London
Councils, the Mayor's Fund for London, Working Links, the London
Child Poverty Commission and the End Child Poverty Campaign.
