Grants Programme Guidelines

Improving Services for Older People - the programme

How much do we give?

• Up to £20,000 in total for up to two years initially
• This does not include the capacity building help which will be provided additionally. We will pay for this.

Good practice

• involve older people, if possible, in the management and running of the service
• show us that you are welcoming to people of all backgrounds
• offer services to older people facing greatest disadvantage, including people people from black and minority ethnic communities and refugees.

Eliglibility

Our grants and capacity buiding support is available to constituted voluntary organisations offering services to older people in London. To be eligible your annual income has to be £50,000 or less. We can only fund charitable activity.

What makes a good application?

• you must show that there is a real need for your service
• you must identify how your organisation could benefit from capacity building
• you should show that you have properly costed your grant application
• you must be able to tell us how you will know that the work has made a difference.

If you think you are eligible this is what happens:

• Step 1  You are welcome to discuss your application with our Improving Service for Older People team over the telephone.
• Step 2  Complete application form answering all questions.
• Step 3  If your project meets our critera and we think you are eligible, we will visit you.
• Step 4  We will look at why you need a grant and discuss what help you need to strengthen your organisation.
• Step 5  We will write a report on your application and identify what sort of capacity building help we can supply and discuss this with you.
• Step 6  The City Bridge Trust Committee makes the final decision.
• Step 7  If the application is successful we will discuss with you the terms of the grant and how the capacity building will work.
• Step 8  Finally, when the work has been completed you will provide us with an account of how you spent the grant and what has been achieved.
• Step 9  Your organisation will be stronger and provide improved services for older people.
